Breathe to Perform


I was so grateful and excited this month to contribute to Women's Fitness magazine with an article about how I use #positionalbreathing to improve performance, strength and general conditioning - really now with all my clients! I love this stuff so much! And truly believe in it's transformative power to reduce pain, improve function and get stronger, if that's your thing.

I have to admit, when I first started learning about positional breathing and #pri (Postural Restoration Institute - a theory and wave of practice that is now becoming well established in US and slowly in UK, developed by the genius of Ron Hruska) I was slow. It took me a wile to wrap my head around it; having to unlearn the way I look at position and movement and expand my picture, allow greater integration of parts in the way I assess, and then in the way I explain, treat and help to recondition. I still use the "old ways" too, and I still look at sports medicine and turn to my old favourites, but this has been a major turning point in both my practice and in my fitness. And there is no going back!
